Streets Ahead Festival in Upper Horfield – Friday 14th and Saturday 15th March

An exciting array of arts and entertainment is scheduled to perform at the Streets Ahead Festival in Upper Horfield from 8th–15th March and it’s all totally free!!
The packed programme includes theatre and dance devised and performed by local young people; music and procession on the streets; music, food and exhibitions reflecting the many different cultures now living in the area – everything from graffiti and bhangra to hip-hop and morris dancing.
The Festival also includes free performances by Banner Theatre from Manchester, and ‘An Evening with Big Bill Broonzy’, a new play by local playwright Will Grealish, performed by acclaimed actor Okon Ubanga-Jones. Bristol-based international dance group, Kompany Malakhi, have worked with local young people who will present a new dance at the Festival.
The project is a partnership between acta, Upper Horfield Community Trust and Bristol Community Housing Foundation, and is funded by Arts Council England, Quartet Community Fund, Neighbourhood Renewal and the Youth Opportunities Fund.
